Official Moniker: Jessica Gurd Goes By: Jess, Jessus, Sesquipedalien. Hails From: Canadia Birthday: Sept. 12th, 1984
Why Ignivomous? Ignivomous is a word that means "to vomit fire". I don't know what event would necessitate a word like that, but I have a feeling it'd be pertaining to dragons. At any rate, I thought it would be an apt name for an art site.
Art Technique and Training: Generally I sketch anything with HB mechanical pencils, and tend to ink the favoured sketches with the smallest micron pens I can find. Because I am too poor to afford fancy markers or paints, everything coloured you see on the site (with the exception of collages) has been coloured with Photoshop, Adobe Painter, or Opencanvas. I am pretty much completely self-taught, outside of a few helpless art classes taken in High school.
Other Projects:
::Current Influences::
Favourite Books: Fifth Business, Catch-22, The Cyberiad, those Lonely Planet Books. Favourite Movies: Lost in Translation
Favourite Music: Splashdown, Universal Hall Pass, Bjork, The Billy Nayer Show, Wild Acoustic Chamber Orchestra. Important Games: Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 6, Crono Trigger/Cross, Earthbound, The Lunar Series, Suikoden II, The Zelda Series.
In 100 Words or Less:
Jessica is a twenty-one year old dame presently residing in the city of Toronto, Ontario. By day, she is a mighty waitress, by night, a haunted student. The rest of the time, she has more than enough to occupy her attention, and therefore will probably not accept any commissions until the summer. She
has had an apparent passion for drawing since she was two; However she considers
herself equally, if not more so, a writer. Outside
of art, she has a clinical interest in peculiar aesthetics and fashion,
Myers-Briggs personality typing, dry, offbeat comedy, and bad science fiction.
If Caucasians who want to be black are called Wiggers, she is most certainly whatever the wanting-to-be-Chinese equivalent is.
(if you yearn for yet more data, bi-weekly records of her adventures can be found here.)
